[Review] Broken Prince by Erin Watt

Review:
Broken Prince by Erin Watt

The sequel to the breakout hit debut novel Paper Princess is a force to be reckoned with. It's as intoxicating and intriguing as it's counterpart and has just as much drama and angst, it will leave you crazy for the next book in the series. At this point, I am pretty sure that I will never get enough of the Royal's. These two authors could write a hundred more books, and I would need to devour each and every one of them.

"He told me to stay away. He told me I didn't belong. If only I'd listened to him."

We pick up RIGHT where book one left off, which was not only a relief but desperately needed. I had a million unanswered questions that had been creeping up on me for MONTHS after I finished Paper Princess. I don't want to give away too much of the plot, every single reader deserves to uncover all those glorious Royal secrets and plot twists on their own.

"It's like he can see into my soul. He sees past the tough front I hide behind. He sees my fears and my vulnerability and he doesn't judge me for it."

The title of this book could not be more fitting as our Royal Prince is indeed a broken mess in this book. Much like the first novel focused on Ella's struggle to come to terms with her mothers death, we get to spend a lot of time inside of Reed's head this time around and see how he is still trying to cope with the death of his own mother and abandonment of his father. That on top of the Brooke debacle makes for some very dramatic and intense plot twists. It seems that Reed has a lot of growing up to do, a lot of issues to work through, and loads of fights to get into. It's a long fall from the top, and our once mighty Prince seems to be drowning in a sea of doubt when his beloved Princess disappears. Don't worry, there are plenty of swoon worthy scenes, romantic declarations, and seriously awesome family drama.

"We're still sparring, still circling each other like well-matched opponents, but we're there, in the ring, together. And that's all that matters."

Sweet lost Ella, fleeing the Royal Palace like Cinderella running away from Prince Charming. Where did she go? Will she come back? Will Reed track her down and explain why the heck is happening with Brooke? So many questions that are answered, and yet I'm left with even more. I think that this book made me root for Ella even more than Paper Princess did, though admittedly... I had times where I wanted to slap her in the face because she is just as stubborn as she always has been. The same fire and determination is alive and well inside our favorite leading lady, and I can say without a doubt that she's blossoming into a force to be reckoned with.

"I see you. I see your hurt and your loneliness. I see your pride, and the way it stops you from leaning on anyone. I see your big heart, and how you want to save the world."

Things that you can expect from this book... phenomenal writing, non-stop action and drama, to hate Jordan even more than you did the first time around, to fall a little more in love with every single one of the Royal men (even Callum), to hate Brooke with the fire of a thousand burning suns. You WILL get answers to most of the questions that you undoubtably had after the first book. However, I can't promise that you won't have an equally (if not worse) book hangover this time around. These are just a few of the guarantees that Broken Price provides.

"We're nothing. We're smoke--insubstantial and meaningless. We aren't even a tragedy. We're less than nothing."

This book is everything a sequel should be. It's catchy, jam-packed with awesomeness, provides as many answers as it does new questions, and makes you more wrapped up in this fumazing book world that these two authors have begun to build together. Don't just walk, run... no SPRINT to the computer to get your copy of this one. It's a solid 5 star follow up.
